Background

Life is about people.
Our different cultures provide a rich learning source for all.
When we embrace and integrate the new, we can change, transform; then life gets really exciting.

Who

Eric Lynn founded LCT Consultants in 1987.
Today, we are a network of experienced consultants and trainers around the world,
supporting individuals and organisations faced with the challenges of …

  • understanding and integrating personal and cultural differences
  • becoming focused on what really matters
  • visioning immediate as well as more distant futures
  • embracing change.

Eric is a facilitator, consultant, trainer, executive and personal coach who, throughout his life, has thrived on difference and change.

With dual British and Canadian nationality, he has lived in 8 countries on 4 continents, worked in approximately 30 countries, travelled extensively in many more.
From 1979-80 and again 1984-2004, he lived in Germany, and since 2004 has been based primarily in Asia.

This exposure to such a variety of life has helped to shape his learning, enabling him to integrate the fundamental knowledge attained in his home environments with perspectives, wisdom and insights from around the world.
The result is a holistic perspective of the world and its interactions - a perspective that he integrates into all aspects of his work.

In addition to formal education with degrees in Economics and Political Science (London School of Economics) and Education; as well as a range of supplementary courses in the fields of intercultural communication, psychology, coaching, systems theory, appreciative inquiry, large group facilitation methods, and others, Eric's sources of learning include …

… being a father to 3 young adults; countless interactions with clients from a range of working worlds - corporate, academic, non-profit, public administration; exchanges with colleagues and friends around the world from a variety of professional backgrounds; encounters with mountain, desert, agricultural and fishing communities across Asia; exchanges with Buddhist monks; being in remote mountain villages and excessively overcrowded cities (providing alternative perspectives of time and timelessness, space and "spacelessness").

With recognised expertise in cultural integration, his regular process facilitation assignments include:

Coaching clients tend to request support in visioning, focus, clarity, approach, dealing with and leading change, personal direction.
In addition, he is regularly asked to present at international events and to contribute to publications dealing with cross-border contact.
He works in English and German.

Eric's role when working with you …

… catalyst / facilitator / mediator / coach / mentor / companion /…or even stumbling block in those cases where you think you know where you need to go, but really don't!

What

"All business deals are made by people."
Cultural Integration and Transformation

Specifically, …

I get you focussed on your common interests and common goal, then working together towards achieving that goal.

  1. Helping to get people focussed, and talking with each other to move the organisation forward, rather than past each other.
  2. Addressing all real issues directly yet respectively, enabling individuals and groups to positively confront and work with them.
  3. Facilitating business communication processes by promoting real understanding and mutual respect.
  4. Sensitising people to the effects of cultural differences and working towards common interests.

Why

  1. I experience how the failure to recognise and take action to overcome cultural barriers in business as well as other areas of life, results in conflict, breakdown and sometimes, huge losses. I want to play a role in overcoming these barriers.
  2. I see how conscious and subconscious barriers as well as (perceived) pressures prevent focus on the real issues and therefore progress. I want to uncover these barriers to enable you to achieve your desired results.
  3. I enjoy working with people (and clients enjoy working with me).
  4. I believe in people.
  5. I believe my work is worthwhile (and so do my clients).
  6. I believe in what I do.

How I work

Key principles:

Why I work like this

"People don't resist change. They only resist being changed." [Peter Senge]

Only by fully involving all stakeholders, is it possible to attain engagement, commitment, and therefore, the intrinsic motivation to actively drive a desired change process.
While imposed change may be nominally accepted, it will never be internalised and owned. Therefore, it cannot achieve anything more than neutral results.
Engagement involves explicit recognition of a new situation, taking ownership and responsibility for the process and therefore, for the results.

My work uses and combines a range of approaches as appropriate. Despite numerous claims to the contrary, no single approach can cover all needs. The many methods recently introduced to the field of organisation development are generally based on approaches long used in communities throughout the world. The developers have adapted them to our current needs.
I attempt to learn from all and apply them in relevant parcels on a case-by-case basis.

My goal in working with you: you drive your process to the desired goal.
